Joshua Tree is truly one of America’s hidden gems. Coming from Phoenix, we were unsure whether it’d be worth it to check out another desert town. However, we were pleasantly surprised by how incredible Joshua Tree is! Join us on our 'field trip' where we drink amazing coffee, eat a homestyle breakfast, explore breathtaking landscapes and check out an old town saloon!
1. ‘Joshua Tree Coffee Company’ (61738 29 Palms Hwy)
This local coffee shop is every coffee lover’s dream. They offer delicious coffee and are both ethical and sustainable. Joshua Tree Coffee Company sources Fair Trade and Rainforest Alliance certified organic coffee. Their nitro cold brew is hands down the best we’ve ever had. It is made with espresso roast beans, steeped in a Toddy for 18 hours then served over ice. The shop is small but offers a lovely back patio that is a perfect place to sit, sip and enjoy!
2. ‘Country Kitchen’ (61768 29 Palms Hwy)
The ‘Country Kitchen’ is a great spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner! In our experience, we stopped in for breakfast before heading to Joshua Tree National Park and were beyond satisfied. We easily split the ‘The Big Biscuit Combo’ which came with fresh baked biscuits and gravy and two servings of bacon, sausage and eggs. On the sweeter side we also chose French toast. They prepare it with thick-cut challah bread that is dipped in a vanilla cinnamon batter and perfectly sweet. They offer an impressive menu and even have authentic Cambodian dishes! This place has it all- fantastic service, delicious food, and reasonable prices! We highly recommend you check out this unique diner.
3. ‘Joshua Tree National Park’ (North Entrance - Twentynine Palms)
The world renowned Joshua Tree National Park is an epic oasis in the center of the desert. The park is named after twisted, bristled Joshua trees that adorn the Colorado Desert and the Mojave Desert. Discover rock formations and cacti as you explore across the breathtaking desert landscape. Hiking, biking, rock climbing and camping are just a few things you can enjoy while here! Joshua Tree National Park is less than 40 miles east of Palm Springs, and the entrance is accessible through Twentynine Palms. A vehicle permit costs $30 and grants you entrance into the park for seven consecutive days. On-site facilities include campgrounds, bookstores, restrooms, a cafe and several picnic areas. The park’s scenery cannot be replicated and is definitely worth the price. This park is truly a one of a kind gem.
4. ‘Joshua Tree Saloon’ (61835 29 Palms Hwy)
Since 1983, the Joshua Tree Saloon has been the place for refreshing cocktails and great food! This local watering hole has a rustic, western atmosphere. Stop in after visiting Joshua Tree National Park for a cold one, it is only four miles away! You can always expect to enjoy cold beer on tap and discover talented musicians from all over the world.
Joshua Tree is a unique attraction that combines what is loved in both California and Arizona, Laid back vibes and vast beautiful desert scenery. We truly cannot wait for the opportunity to go back for a longer stay. Joshua Tree seems like the perfect place to rent an Airbnb or camp to escape the hustle of city life. We are excited to come back with friends to enjoy a night out at the saloon.
